Halloween Interview w/TJ Kong and the Atomic Bomb's Dan Bruskewicz

By: Q.D. Tran

October 31, 2014

The Deli: What are you dressing up as this year, and where did the inspiration for your costume come from?

Dan Bruskewicz: WE ARE THINKING ABOUT BEING 2001 A SPACE ODDYSEY. THE INSPIRATION CAME FROM WANTING TO HAVE DANCING MONKEYS ON STAGE WITH US.

TD: What is the best costume that you've ever done, and why?

DB: LAST YEAR, WE WERE THE SHINING, AND OUR BASS PLAYER RECREATED THE "HERE'S JOHNNY" SCENE ON STAGE, AND PLAYED THE WHOLE SHOW WITH HIS HEAD STICKING THREW A DOOR.

TD: What is your dream costume but you are too lazy or broke to pull off?

DB: MIKE TYSON.

TD: If you were a famous monster, who would you be, and why?

DB: I WOULD BE YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN BECAUSE HE HAD RHYTHM.

TD: What is your favorite Halloween song that really isn't considered a Halloween song, and why?

DB: ANYONE WHO HAS A HUMAN HEART AND HAS SEEN BEETLEJUICE KNOWS THE ANSWER TO THIS IS HARRY BELAFONTE'S "JUMP IN THE LINE."

TD: What is your fondest memory of Halloween?

DB: WHEN I WAS A KID, I DRESSED UP AS THE TORONTO BLUE JAYS. I HAD A BLUE JAY HAT AND A T-SHIRT AND A GLOVE, AND THEN I STAPLED EVERY PLAYER'S BASEBALL CARD TO MY CHEST. PEOPLE WERE REALLY FREAKED OUT.

TD: What's the best horror movie to watch on Halloween, besides any of the Halloween movies?

DB: PINOCCHIO.
