New Track: "Largemarj" - Pulgas

Pulgas, the duo of Simon Martinez and Zane Shields, have announced their new effort, titled Or Best Offer, which releases on September 13 via Astro Nautico. Back in 2017, the group shared its self-titled debut on Boiled Records, a world of lo-fi sorcery, filled with dastardly grooves that provided the footing for a stunningly agile and colorful, melodic accompaniment with vocals that were lolled out - smooth and saccharine. Martinez and Shields recently shared the first single from their forthcoming EP. “Largemarj” is a soulful track that swings in a soft shuffle, an impassioned sense of decadence with a touch of melancholy. - Josh Kelly

New Pulgas EP Available for Streaming & Purchase

A beautifully twisted portmanteau of candescent pop and arrhythmic flux, Pulgas’ Simon Martinez and Zane Shields return with More Like Us (Astro Nautico). Released as a companion EP to an album coming in the spring, More Like Us takes the listener through four concise yet dense tracks that display a growth in their craftsmanship from previous recordings. Their sense of dynamism in musicianship is fiercely on display, while the production and quality of the recordings are vibrant and smooth. If you’re a fan of DIY-pop aficionados in the vein of Ryan Power or Jake Tobin, the new Pulgas EP will be a welcome addition to your musical wheelhouse. - Josh Kelly

New Pulgas Album Available for Streaming & Purchase

Open to Most Things (Bolied Records), the second full-length album by Philadelphia’s Pulgas, a two-piece consisting of Simon Martinez and Zane Shields is a tundra of spectral delight. Its a sonic quest that is as cogent as it is unhinged. The record’s nine tracks contain multitudes, offering its listener new delights upon each return to their world. The compositions are complex yet surprisingly digestible, with dense atmospheres hovering over intricate rhythmic sequences and playful melodic components. - Josh Kelly
