Broken Beaks

Pretty Words Breakout at The Pharmacy July 7

A steady, tempered, rolling rumble can escalate with stampeding momentum, as relaxed yet emotively-stained vocals ooze, steering with attitude. Pretty Words create an unimposing, gently-simmering vibe. Loose, curling guitar licks wrap around backend, which push forward as the lyrics seep in, and those cruise-controlling tones lie in wait to breakout, generating enthusiastic energy. The band just released a new self-titled EP last month, its second of 2016. Tonight at The Pharmacy, they’ll be joined by the union of exposed fragility and determined resilience, otherwise known as Broken Beak, and the heady-pop combination of Wilkes-Barre quartet Spur. The somber, crawling volatility of Horse Jumper of Love will also slowly seep into your skin, while the robust, detail-enriched, contagious dynamics of The Island of Misfit Toys complete this lineup.
