Brother JT

Let Brother JT Take You to Rock 'n' Roll Church at Ortlieb's Aug. 6

Before he began Trippin’ Balls, you could find Brother JT filling the nighttime air with his oddball, psych-rock sermons. Laying down licks of a seemingly supernatural nature, the Brother is always ready to take us to rock ‘n’ roll church. He’ll be doing so tonight in NoLibs watering hole Ortlieb’s, and joining him will be music brethren St. James & The Apostles, who have plans to release a new full-length album, White Devil, in October. The Midnight Sun Presents… Satellite of Fuzz showcase will also include Sun Voyager, Gods, Linear North, Canyon, and Colora. That’s a whole lotta bands; hence the early start. Ortlieb’s, 847 N. 3rd St., 5pm, $12, 21+ - Alexis V.

Weekend Warrior, December 4 - 6

Trek through the cosmic debris as Kohoutek celebrate the release of their Curious Aroma LP at PhilaMOCA this Saturday night. Available via London’s MIE Music, the band launches into epic, noise-rattled, sonic voyages. Instrumental tones (which originally seem at odds) gradually marinate; the strength of intensity permeates bending space and time into submission, momentarily seizing one’s headspace in the process. Joining in on this head trip is the almighty Brother JT, who will be making his usual human sacrifice to the rock gods.  Rosali gets the night rolling, prepping the launching pad to send things out there. PhilaMOCA, 531 N. 12th St., 8pm, $10, All Ages - Michael Colavita

Trippin' Balls w/Brother JT Live Taping at Underground Arts Oct. 23

I'm a big fan of Trippin' Balls with Brother JT! It kind of conjures up the feelings that I used to get when MTV first aired Wonder Showzen. "What the fuck is this? Am I on drugs? This is awesome!" Well, tonight you'll have the opportunity to attend a live taping of the YouTube series at Underground Arts. I'm not really sure how this will all play out without the addition of Woodshop Films' brilliant studio magic, but Brother JT rules, they need heads to fill in the audience, admission is FREE, and the bar will be open! Also replacing Flip McNair (a.k.a. Mr. Unloved) as the house band will be St. James & The Apostles. "COME OUT AND BE APART OF THIS ONCE IN A LIFETIME PSYCHEDELIC HAPPENING!" Underground Arts, 1200 Callowhill St., 7pm, Free All Ages - Q.D. Tran

New Video: Trippin' Balls (Feat. Chris DiPinto) - Brother JT

Feeling under the weather on this nice summer day and needing a pick-me-up, so where do you turn? That's an easy answer: Trippin' Balls with Brother JT. In this latest episode, he has invited local guitar-making wiz Chris DiPinto in for an always awkward chat as well as a performance with his band Creem Circus. And DiPinto is definitely decked out in his finest rock 'n' roll attire for this momentous appearance.
