Shaking Through w/Cayetana

Here's the latest episode of Weathervane Music's Shaking Through featuring all-female pop-punk trio Cayetana. The video definitely provides insight into the type of relationship that these ladies have built from playing music and being in band together. The song that they recorded at Miner Street Recordings is called "Miss Thing," and is about singer Augusta Koch's grandmother, whose portrait hangs in their practice space. You can stream the track HERE, which will not be on the group's upcoming LP that will be available via Tiny Engines. Cayetana is currently on a national tour with The Menzingers.

Cayetana, Radiator Hospital & More Make Waiting Enjoyable at The Fire April 29

Nick Fanelli and the Guild crew have been building a home for the ever-growing Philly pop-punk scene in DIY spaces around town like Golden Tea House as well as more legitimate venues like The Fire. This evening at the Girard Avenue watering hole, you'll find the self-taught, all-female trio Cayetana, who has been all abuzz since signing to Tiny Engines and releasing the uber-catchy single "Hot Dad Calendar." And while we patiently wait for the group's upcoming full-length, the wait becomes more enjoyable when mixed in with the poetic croons of Radiator Hospital's Sam Cook-Parrott as well as Salinas labelmates All Dogs and West Chester rockers NONA. The Fire, 412 W. Girard. Ave., 7pm, $7, All Ages - Alexis V.

Weekend Warrior, March 21 - 23

I know that there are plenty of you out there who are already to enjoy the first weekend of spring. Well, tomorrow looks like it will be the best day to get out, and you’ll also find the best show of the weekend Kicking things off will be the enddearing pop-punk of Cayetana, who have been making people take notice with the help of their infectious single “Hot Dad Calendar.” Sleazy garage rockers Lantern have been cranking things up a bit lately with help from Chris Wilson (Ted Leo & the Pharmacists) behind the kit. They’ll be at The Boot & Saddle suporting Ex Hex, the anthemic-rock, all-female power trio, led by veteran riot grrrl Mary Timony (Autoclave, Helium, Wild Flag). BTW: Don’t be late! we heard that the venue has been having issues with one annoying neighbor so relatively early curfews are being adhered to. The Boot & Saddle, 1131 S. Broad St., 8:30pm, $12, 21+ - Alexis V.
