Weekend Warrior, October 30 - November 1

Without a doubt, Halloween is our favorite holiday. And we know that you can’t wait to get into a little mischief this weekend. Where would we suggest for you to do that at? It’s tough to say with so many options. You can kick it old school tonight with legendary Philly punks The Dead Milkmen at The Troc and psych rockers Bardo Pond at JB’s, or go way back to the 8-bit sounds of your childhood with Cheap Dinosaurs and Chipocrite at MilkBoy Philly. There is a plethora of cover band bills to choose from so take your pick. Do you want to rock out with your genitals out (so PC, right?) with Ween (featuring members of On The Water, Post Sun Times & Sandcastle) at South Philly DIY (garage) space Cha-Cha’Razzi? Or is watching Vita and the Woolf’s Jen Pague throwing down with her best Sasha Fierce impersonation at MilkBoy Philly your bag? And of course, our old pal TJ Kong will be playing host to his 6th annual Halloween Murder Show at Underground Arts. There’s a lot to consume in costume this weekend; however, we conveniently list the local activities for you below. - The Deli Staff

New F.O.D. & The Dead Milkmen Split 7" Available for Streaming

Old pals and local punk legends Flag of Democracy (a.k.a. F.O.D.) and The Dead Milkmen shared an incredible story about unearthing a long-lost split 7" that they did together for Datchord Records in 1985. (You can read the press release about the album HERE.) However, it turned out to be hoax, but what we do have is a release of retro-sounding new tracks that harken back to the wonderful glory days of both punk outfits. You can now stream the new 7" in its entirety over at Brooklyn Vegan, and the record will be officially released on October 30 via SRA Records.

New Video: Welcome to Anhedonia - "How to Apply to College" (Feat. The Dead Milkmen's Rodney Anonymous)

The weekend is almost here so we wanted to provide you with a little entertainment to help get you through the rest of your workweek. Are you thinking about going to college, or did your band just break up and you wished that you went/finished? Well, The Dead Milkmen's Rodney Anonymous is here to provide you with advice about higher education. Check out his words of wisdom on Scrapple TV's "punk rock puppet show" Welcome to Anhedonia! Weekend Warrior, September 5 - 7

With the release of their forthcoming album, Pretty Music for Pretty People, happening in early October, autumn is going to be the season of The Dead Milkmen. Alas, the band will be touring the western part of the United States during the bulk of fall, giving Philly little opportunity to see them. But before they go, the beloved satirical punk band has lined up a fitting venue for a sendoff celebration - Laurel Hill Cemetery. Join the veteran rock outfit as they entertain the living and the dead with the classics that you know all the words to, and preview some new material from next month’s release. However, be sure to arrive early to do a tour of the historic cemetery, and catch the opening performance from cyber art rockers S.T.A.R.W.O.O.D. Laurel Hill Cemetery, 3822 Ridge Ave., 7pm, $15, All Ages - Bill McThrill
