Lame-O Records Rock Residency at Boot Saddle Every Thursday This January

One of the beautiful things that has provided me with hope when faced with the imminent reality of living in a Trump kleptocracy is witnessing the natural outpour of kindness and compassion that has spread throughout our communities, as we learn more than ever the necessity to be the keepers of our brothers and sisters. It is the responsibility of all of us to make sure our neighbors, friends, family and loved ones are safe. Lame-O Records and multitude of talented artists will be taking over Boot & Saddle every Thursday in January to raise money for organizations in need of our help. Tonight will be the kick-off of the Philly label's "Rock Residency" with family members Hurry, Dominic, and Cherry, who will be donating their proceeds to Planned Parenthood, followed by Slaughter Beach, Dog, Loose Tooth, and No Thank You for Juntos, Thin Lips, The Superweaks, and The Obsessives for The Attic Youth Center, and Three Man Cannon, Kate Ellen, and The Afterglows for the Philly ACLU. You'll have plenty of chances to do some good this month, while still getting to rock out - a bit of guilt-free partying, except maybe when you decide to not go to work or school on Friday, which I totally give you permission to do. Boot & Saddle, 1131 S. Broad St., 8:30pm, $8, 21+ - Q.D. Tran

New Track: "Savior" - Dominic

Inspired by "a long dormant obsession with 'alternative religion'" and "a couple of super mean Leonard Cohen songs," Dominic Angelella wrote the song "Savior" while working on the next Lithuania album. It's the second single from his debut album, Goodnight, Doggies. (under the moniker Dominic), which will be released on February 3 via Lame-O Records. He'll also be helping to kickoff Lame-O's second annual Rock Residency at Boot & Saddle in the month of January. Each show in the residency will benefit a variety of great causes. Dominic will be coming together with Hurry and Cherry on Thursday, January 5 at the South Philly music venue to raise donations for Planned Parenthood.

Unveiling Dominic at Ortlieb's Dec. 1

Dominic Angelella’s creative evolution stretches from Hop Along to DRGN KING and Lithuania with stops along the way. His latest musical manifestation is simply titled Dominic, and will release an album, Goodnight Doggies, on February 3 via Lame-O Records. The album’s first single, “Birthday Song,” possesses subtle layers of instrumental warmth, intermingled with a catchy, folk jangle and a thoughtful personal narrative, sweeping one up in a pensive daydream with a grounded core. Tonight, Angelella will be unveiling his latest project at NoLibs watering hole Ortlieb's. He'll be supported by Vexxed, which features Lucy Stone (who had been part of the recent incarnation of DRGN KING). The bare, introspective sounds of Photo Jenny will also be joining this mid-week affair. Ortlieb’s, 847 N. Third St., 8pm, $10, 21+ - Michael Colavita
