Eric Slick

Eric Slick Opening for Ahleuchatistas at JB's Aug. 16

Eric Slick has always held things down on the skins for bands like Dr. Dog, Nightlands, Norwegian Arms, and The Adrian Belew Trio. And with Lithuania, he has certainly been building his comfort level and experience, enjoying the warmth of lights from the front of the stage. Slick recently dropped a new solo track called, "No," a tasty, pop morsel of disenchantment that's off his upcoming album, Palisades. Tonight, he'll be opening for avant-rock Asheville, NC duo Ahleuchatistas and Mary Lattimore at Johnny Brenda's. Also along for the odd, sonic adventure is Shimmer. Johnny Brenda's, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 9pm, $12, 21+ - H.M. Kauffman

New Track: "No" - Eric Slick

“No,” the new track from Eric Slick (Dr. Dog, Lithuania), will be featured on his forthcoming album Palisades. Surrounded by the ringing echo of guitar bouncing against the steady crisp pecussion, the keys offer a sense of melancholy and warmth, reinforcing his calm approach to the personal lyrics. Slick is part of a bill on Tuesday, August 16 at Johnny Brenda's that also includes Mary Lattimore, Ahleuchatistas, and Shimmer.

New Video: "Gymnopedie 1.2" (Live) - Lushlife and Friends (Feat. Power Animal & Eric Slick)

While we wait with great anticipation for Lushlife's follow-up to 2012's Plateau Vision, Raj Haldar has teamed up with Deli favorites Keith Hampson (Power Animal) and Eric Slick (Dr. Dog, Lithuania) to re-record/reimagine "Gymnopedie 1.2." The track was originally a nod to French composer and pianist Erik Satie's "Gymnopedie No. 1," which Haldar obsessed over during his formative years in high school. The intimate at-home acoustic performance was directed by Peter English and edited by Larry DeMark.

New Eric Slick Film Soundtrack Available for Streaming & Purchase

Dr. Dog's Eric Slick shared a bit of performance art with us during his set in January at PhilaMOCA for Tuesday Tune-Out. The piece entitled Primal Essence consisted of an interactive short film with Slick playing a live soundtrack. He only performed the installation two other times - Big Snow Buffalo in Brooklyn and Spring House in King of Prussia, where he recorded its probable final performance. You can listen to and purchase the soundtrack below. There is also a limited edition DVD (50 copies) available for pre-order with two versions of the film, extra bonus footage and a hand-drawn picture done by Eric himself. Enjoy!
