Far-Out Fangtooth

Weekend Warrior, November 2 - 4

With a haunting, hazy, cavernous, psych sound that scorches and soars amid murky surroundings, Far-Out Fangtooth has reemerged (at least for one night and hopefully many more). It’s been about four years since the band has performed together on stage. Crafting dynamic, fuzzed-out soundscapes that pull you into the spiraling vortex of omnipresent rhythms and reverberating guitars, the group invites you to explore what lies within the shadows. This Saturday, Far-Out Fangtooth will be opening for the legendary Roky Erickson at Underground Arts. The contagious energy of garage-punk Chicago siblings White Mystery is also slated on tomorrow evening’s billing. (Photo by Adam Wallacavage) – Michael Colavita

New Video" "Crypt Ring" - Lunacy

Performing under the moniker of Lunacy, Nick Kulp (Far-Out Fangtooth/ Creepoid) has recorded a new EP. Resurgence of Compulsion will be released on May 20, including a limited 50 cassette run via Time Castle Tapes. It explores the murky aftermath, resulting in dreary noise-pop textures.  Watch as Vince Alvare (ex Far-out Fangtooth) delivers a spellbinding set of creepy imagery in the video for “Crypt Ring”, temporarily freezing one’s focus.

Far-Out Fangtooth Bon Voyage Show at JB’s Nov. 6

Hypnotic, experimental goth-punk outfit Far-Out Fangtooth are in for a huge November as they get ready to embark on their first ever European tour on Friday. But before the incendiary avant-psych group leaves, they're all set to throw a bon voyage party at Johnny Brenda's tonight, where they'll be joined by Brooklyn's LODRO. The show will be opened by fast-paced art-noise group Taiwan Housing Project, which is a collaboration between Mark Feehan of Harry Pussy and Kilynn Lunsford of Little Claw. Expect things to get tripped-out and creepy once these three bands take the stage on the same night! Johnny Brenda's, 1201 N Frankford Ave., 9pm, $10, 21+ - Bill McThrill

Weekend Warrior, June 13 - 15

I’m a city dweller so I rarely suggest to anyone to go camping. However, this weekend’s Barbary Blowout sounds like a damn good time. The event will take place this Saturday and Sunday at Steel Steeds Motorcycle Campground in Milton, PA, and will feature some mind-altering acts in Needle Points, Far-Out Fangtooth, Fantasy Panther and Bonzai. There will also be plenty of craziness and camping so don’t forget your drugs! For more deets, go HERE, and enjoy! Creepoid Begins Anew at The Barbary May 22

We broke the news the other day that Far-Out Fangtooth’s Nick Kulp has officially joined Creepoid with the band parting ways with former guitarist Pete Joe Urban. This doesn’t really surprise us since Urban had already taken a hiatus from the group to live in Texas while his girlfriend attended school. And with the band posting on Facebook that they’ll be giving up their sweet pad in West Philly so that they can begin “touring now til forever,” it makes absolute sense to have all members on the same page. And if you’ve seen/heard Kulp shred with Far-Out Fangtooth, then you should know that he’s definitely a good fit and a logical replacement. So what does the future hold for Far-Out Fangtooth? That still remains to be seen with Creepoid's plans to extensively. You can check out the new lineup this evening at The Barbary when they open for Walter Scheifels (Gorilla Biscuits, Youth Of Today, Rival Schools, etc.). The Barbary, 951 N. Frankford Ave., 8pm, $15, All Ages (Photo by Andrew Swartz) - Alexis V.
