New Music Video: "I Do What I Do" - Hardwork Movement

Co-directed by Natasha Cohen-Carroll and Sterling Duns, hip-hop collective Hardwork Movement recently posted a new video for “I Do What I Do”. The single can be found on the group's latest EP Playing With Fire, which is out now via nicethingsMUSIC. What begins as a street-level chase/getaway scene shifts to members and friends "flexing" and busting some coordinated dance moves. It's a playful, confident display that looks like a good time had by all filming. You can catch Hardwork Movement at the newly anointed Franklin Music Hall with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Pretty Girls Like Trap on New Year's Eve.

New Hardwork Movement EP Available for Streaming & Purchase

On their first release as a fully fleshed nine-piece, Hardwork Movement develops a sonic depth. A soulful brand of hip hop is led instrumentally by the triumvirate of bass, keys, and drums. Peppered with accents of flute and trumpet, the group creates a well-rounded tone amid the confident authority of intertwined lyrically spoken and sung vocals. For The People captures a pensive, proactive place, stepping forward into the moment. You catch the collective tonight at Underground Arts, where they will be in party mode, supported by Ill Fated Natives and Aleana.

Weekend Warrior, July 28 - 30

Over the next three days, the musical fulcrum will largely focus on XPoNential Music Fest. A balanced assemblage of established and emerging talent from near and far settle onto the waterfront. Unfortunately, inclement weather may wash over Hurry’s set. However, Friday still has plenty on its tab – the encompassing reverberating power/ease of Angel Olsen coupled with the emotionally-exposed, energy-expelling rock of Hop Along and the stellar storytelling of Conor Oberst and Wilco. Saturday will culminate with local stalwart Amos Lee digging in with Preservation Hall Jazz Band. However, the meditative reverie of The Dove & The Wolf usher in the day, while Strand of Oaks roots itself in earnest, endearing narratives that blossom and flourish, gathering anthemic reach. On Sunday, the genre-melding hip-hop collective of Hardwork Movement and the Americana trio of No Good Sister help shape the day, reinforced by the bright Americana of Hurray For The Riff Raff and the rugged alt-country of Drive By Truckers. – Michael Colavita

New Track: "Becca's Jam" - Hardwork Movement

“Becca’s Jam,” the latest single from hip-hop collective Hardwork Movement, which was produced by Weathervane Music, negotiates a narrative of love from multiple perspectives. A through line of percussion steadies the course as currents of electrified keys and trumpet create a break in the clouds. The storytelling baton is seamlessly passed in a hopeful desire to maintain a deep connection. Paired with Strange Parts, Hardwork Movement will be braving the heat, and performing this evening as part of Spruce Street Harbor’s Waterfront Sessions.

New Music Video: "On The Rise" - Hardwork Movement

Philly hip-hop collective Hardwork Movement uses their hometown sorroundings as the scenic backdrop for their new video, "On The Rise". Inspired by Spike Jonze's music video for The Pharcyde's "Drop," director Forrest Reid successfully executes the "magic" of shooting in reverse, making it worth a second, third, fourth - you get what we're talkin' about. You can also find "On The Rise" opening the group's latest EP Draft Night. (Photo by Out Of Town Films)
