Levi Weaver to Release "Your Ghost Keeps Finding Me" 5.13

Levi Weaver's third full-length studio album, “Your Ghost Keeps Finding Me” is due to be released on May 13th. Things got real for the former Deli Artist of the Month (and Nashvillian) in February, when he moved with his wife and two young children to an RV in order to tour full-time for the year of 2014. “Hear You Say My Name” is a sample of the cinematic scope of the album, which vacillates from soft and sweet to driving and anthemic in with seamless dexterity. Recorded at East Side Manor in Nashville with producer Aaron Dethrage, the recording features guest appearances from Rachel Yamagata and Carina Round. Weaver utilizes loop pedals and multiple mics to translate his recordings into a one-man live show. His current tour schedule is available here, and keep checking http://leviweaver.com/ for updates, and the next chance to see him finesse a band out of thin air here in Nashville. –Terra James-Jura

Levi Weaver at Exit/In 10.1

Levi Weaver touts himself as a wanderer, and wonderer. His songs set him apart from the sea of songwriters out there without much trouble: they’re rich with a symphony of instruments and play out like a movie viewed from the good seats. He’s cut a swath from Texas to the UK, and has settled in East Nashville to perform his compositions and move closer still to standing alongside other offbeat, impressive showmen like Rufus Wainwright and M. Ward. He is about a month away from releasing his crowd-funded full-length entitled “Your Ghost Keeps Finding Me.” Currently the pledges for that project have exceeded their goal, and a portion of the surplus is going to Porter’s Call, a charity supporting musicians and their families. He opens for Kishi Bashi and Fancy Colors this Tuesday at Exit/Inn. -Terra James-Jura

Music News: Ruby Amanfu, Milktooth, Cherub, and k.s. Rhoads

It's only Tuesday and this week is already full of new stuff to check out. There's a lot to hear, so we've condensed it all into a quick and clickable blog post for easy consumption:

Ruby Amanfu has teamed up with Alabama Shakes' Brittany Howard to create a painfully beautiful cover of Memphis Minnie's "When My Man Comes Home." Recorded to add to the Third Man Records Blue Series arsenal, this song as well as a cover of "I Wonder," originally by Rodriguez, will be available on vinyl March 12th. In the meantime, the song is available to stream (on repeat) over on the Entertainment Weekly website.

For some reason, electro-pop duo Cherub are giving their fantastic 100 Bottles EP away for free. Featuring six tracks of experimental neo-soul, this EP does not miss a beat. Catch the debut and stream over on This Song Is Sick or buy the EP on iTunes.

Currently getting the new album release treatment is known solo artist and renown local collaborator, k.s. Rhoads. Available today, The Wilderness will celebrate its release alongside a myriad of local talent on March 8th at 3rd & Lindsley. Until then, stream the album on Spotify or on Spinner.

Lastly, Milktooth have released the fifth episode of their ongoing "Stay At Home America" covers series. This time, the band tackles "Eyes That Say I Love You," from Beck's Song Reader. The song and video feature tons of local talent, such as Alanna Quinn-Broadus of Alanna Royale, Daniel Ellsworth of Daniel Ellsworth & the Great Lakes, Lindsay Johns of NUDITY, Regan Freeman, and Levi Weaver. Catch it here:
