54th Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival

Presented by Philadelphia Folksong Society, the communion of traditional and contemporary music otherwise known as the 54th Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival returns to Old Pool Farm this weekend. Kicking off last night, the event assembles a collection of musical talent from both near and far. This is the place to find legends like Arlo Guthrie, Larry Campbell, and Teresa Williams, the rising blues of Selwyn Birchwood, or Mississippi blues-rocking trio The North Mississippi Allstars. However, a fine contingent of local artists are represented including Levee Drivers, John Mallinen, Lovers League, Philly Bloco and Hoots & Hellmouth to name a few. Soak up some sun and excellent music. It’s going to be a warm weekend. You can check out the full schedule HERE Old Pool Farm (Shwenksville, PA), 1323 Salford Station Rd., Various Times & Prices, All Ages –Michael Colavita

Lovers League Album Release Show at Boot & Saddle May 8

Lovers League celebrates the release of 2 (produced by Bill Moriarty) this evening at Boot & Saddle. Reverend TJ McGlinchey and Dani Mari seamlessly lace together vocals providing a heartfelt dual-focused perspective. The album has a gentle folk-country-blues sway, with a simple approach that hits home because the hopeful sentiments expressed through those natural harmonies have a timeless appeal. The slowly escalating, steady-churning Americana-blues of the Levee Drivers occupy the middle slot as August John Lutz II vocals yearn with a gut-tearing tension, coupled with the ever-warming fire of instrumentation that could set off at any moment. The spacey, searching, eclectic musical explorations of Vilebred get things started. Boot & Saddle, 1131 S. Broad St., $10, 8:30pm, 21+ (Photo by Lisa Schaffer) - Michael Colavita

It comes with a fitting music video comprised of black-and-white clips from classic television shows and commercials. (Photo by Elizabeth Thorpe)

New Music Video: "Hide and Seek" - Lovers League

“Hide and Seek,” Lovers League's first single and music video off their forthcoming sophomore album 2, which was produced with Bill Moriarty (Dr. Dog, Man Man, Lotus, etc.), has a gentle, rolling groove as Dani Mari and Reverend TJ McGlinchey’s vocals wrap around each other in a tale that creates a parallel between the innocence of youth and a blossoming attempt at love. 2 will be released on May 12, while Boot & Saddle hosts the record release show on May 8 that also features Vilebred, Levee Drivers and Frank Kolbman painting live.
