Needle Points

Needle Points Opening for Nude Beach at Ortlieb’s Sept. 15

Step back in time to the back of VW Bus on the lawn at Woodstock, and join Needle Points on a rock and roll road trip. A mix of psychedelic rock and tribal jam band, the group is relatively new to the local scene, but there are talented and passionate veteran noisemakers behind the grooves. They don’t stick to the basics, weaving a hard-hit tambourine and heavy drums in with scuzzy, lo-fi guitar riffs. An eclectic blend of various genres, the band prefers shaking it to the beat of their own drummers (Jooti Kaplan and Dani Kinoshita who, by the way, really do rock). They’ll open for Brooklyn natives Nude Beach, whose moniker describes much of their sound: wailing and beachy pop-rock that’s not afraid to show some skin.  Each band’s unique sound promises to draw a crowd, but, like a time machine, it’ll transport listeners anywhere they want to go. The Homophones & Needle Points Opening for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah at the TLA Aug. 1

The TLA is serving up a bit of home cooking tonight with The Homophones and Needle Points warming things up for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. The Homophones are anchored by Jason Ferraro’s deep baritone vocals and captivating yet slightly dark storytelling technique with a musical backdrop that shares elements of indie rock/pop/folk dropping in a well-placed groove and ripping guitar so that everything remains in constant motion. Newcomers Needle Points appear intent on creating a warped psych-rock atmosphere that makes you want to commune with nature and stare at lava lamps for way too long. Then, there is CYHSY, whose new EP Little Moments wets one’s appetite for their next full-length scheduled for release early next year. New Music Video: "I Drink Rainfall" - Needle Points

Fledgling local psych rock outfit Needle Points has a new music video for their debut single "I Drink Rainfall." The outrageous five-piece is really making us want to already call it a day, take a bunch of psychedelics, and go splashing around in a creek to beat this heat. Calgon, take me away!
