Photo Recap: Night Market & ART/GAGE w/Strand of Oaks, Norwegian Arms, Night Panther & Circadian Rhythms

Last Thursday, Night Market and ART/GAGE joined forces to create one massive party on South Street. Though the food event had its usual really long lines for the more buzzed-about food trucks, there were still plenty of fine local acts (Strand of Oaks, Norwegian Arms, Night Panther & Circadian Rhythms), people watching and Sixpoint beers to keep us all entertained. You can check out a bunch of our sweet photos from the evening HERE.

South Street comes alive tonight with food, art, music, culture, and more as it pays host to both Night Market and ART/GAGE. The Food Trust will have its usual barrage of nearly 80 food trucks descending upon the iconic strip for what is guaranteed to be the largest edition of this culinary event yet. Meanwhile, Philadelphia's Magic Gardens and a number of other art collectives and galleries will provide a plentiful showcase of local artists during ART/GAGE. But of course, both events converging upon the same area wouldn’t be complete without a carnival of circus performers and local musicians to provide some enlightening entertainment. The 9th Street stage starts off strong with the vibrant, throwback indie pop tunes of Circadian Rhythms, and is followed up by the soulful, sex pop vibrations of Drink Up Buttercup/White Birds alums Night Panther. Add in the impassioned weirdo-folk of Norwegian Arms and a headlining set from buzz-worthy folk maestro Strand of Oaks, and you have an evening of music that is not to be missed - seriously! Dream Safari Opening for Norwegian Arms & Jamaican Queens at PhilaMOCA July 19

Hot off last month’s release of Night Howl, Dream Safari (formerly known as Flamingos) will be kicking things off tonight at PhilaMOCA.  Songwriter and the creative mind behind the project, Chris Coulton, will no doubt bring the same electro dance beats that exist on his debut EP to the live setting. Hopefully those attending will have on their dancing shoes because not only does Coulton create an 80s-inspired, world sound, but he also weaves dance-pop expertly between the ambiance. Amidst the serious groove is a wistful lyricism, yearning for a time past while remaining at peace with its distance. Headlining the evening is Deli fave, Norwegian Arms. Wandering instrumentals that cascade from one emotion to the next is a mainstay for the local outfit. Also handpicked for the bill is Motor City’s Jamaican Queens, who really impressed Norwegian Arms frontman Brendan Mulvihill earlier this year at SXSW. Come out and hook up the traveling band from Detroit with some gas money. If the city just declared bankruptcy, then just imagine how much its musicians are struggling. New Music Video: "At the Formerly British Council Supported Centre" - Norwegian Arms

Norwegian Arms just shared a new music for one of our favorite tracks off Wolf Like a Stray Dog, "At the Formerly British Council Supported Centre" (now say that three times - fast). We dig the dancin' fool in tight jean shorts. It's quite hilarious. The video was directed by Vika Lorionova. Norwegian Arms will be headlining tomorrow night at PhilaMOCA supported by Jamaican Queens, Sean N. Savage and Dream Safari. Enjoy!
