Pet

New Pet LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

The dusty haze of Pet's folky, lo-fi melodies is breezy, simultaneously soothing, and emotively affects. With Hell Yeah Ulysses, the group taps into a sparse simplicity - one which highlights the pleasant, loose, jangly stir, without obscuring the lyrics. Much like the sparkle of sunlight off the morning dew, there’s a delight in the natural whimsy of it all. This new collection of songs quickly forges a memorable familiarity, as if they were always there.

New Pet LP Available for Streaming & Download

From frantic fuzzed-out stampedes to more subdued, emotively laced moments of melody, Ten Thousand Years, the new album from Pet, strikes a personal note. Jostling between mellowed exposures and friction-fueled fury, the collection is reassuringly unpredictable. Rollercoasting in a volatile vibrancy, it exhibits smoldering self-reevaluations, leading to tension/pressure-releasing ends.

Travel Near & Far w/Pet at Boot & Saddle Nov. 28

Thanksgiving seems to a have a residual fatigue, which temporarily knocks me out. But it’s Saturday, and the rust is coming off. The assemblage, formerly known as Snoozer, has reawakened as Pet. The trio throttles between a booming, full-on rush forward, with an internal edge. The outward instrumental push provides the primary jolt, but it’s reinforced by a pensive lyrical pull. That near-and-far sound holds you in limbo. Tonight at Boot & Saddle, they bridge the gap between the punk meets shoegazing, spacey synths of Janelle and the trio of Remote Player’s Club, featuring a pair of former State Radio members, Mike Najarian and Chuck Fay. Boot & Saddle, 1131 S. Broad St., 8pm, $12, 21+ - Michael Colavita

Final Snoozer EP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Before formally adopting the new name Pet, the band, formerly known as Snoozer, released a swan song EP. Don’t sleep on Life Sucks, available digitally below and on cassette courtesy of Third Floor Tapes. The intriguing interplay of jolting instrumentation and unnerving somber vocals creates an interesting multifaceted outer strength versus an internally sensitive dynamic. Catch Pet on Friday, November 6 at Nico Nico Mansion.
