New Profligate LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Wharf Cat Records recently issued Somewhere Else, the first full-length album from Profligate, a.k.a. Noah Anthony, since 2014. A calm intensity is evident almost immediately, as beats bend into unconventional sonic shapes, hovering over the threshold with precise cleanliness, while simultaneously scattering industrial scraps all over the dance floor. Passages of serene stillness are countered by jolts of jarring noise, establishing an ear-alerting balance.

Profligate Opening for Ciara Black at Berks Warehouse Nov. 12

Folks happening to walk a few blocks west of the Berks station this Saturday night may find themselves stumbling upon a cathartic congregation of experimental techno and acid house at Berks Warehouse. Profligate’s music spans from minimal to extreme, from the mellow aesthetics of lo-fi bedroom pop to an intensity of presence found at industrial raves. The solo project from Noah Anthony has most recently collaborated with Elaine Kahn to achieve a sound reminiscent to Australian electronic outfit Severed Heads. Profligate will be joined by fellow Philadelphian, Speaking Parts, who will be celebrating the release of a new album available on cassette via No-Tech. The NYC-based experimental label was co-founded by Ciara Black, who will be in town headlining this evening’s bill. She’ll also be supported by Boston’s Isabella, a.k.a. Isabella Koen. According to the show’s co-organizers, All Mutable and Embalming Lately, all profits from the event will be donated, so those in attendance will get to enjoy partying in the name of altruism and artistic integrity.
