Restorations

New Track: "The Red Door" - Restorations

"The Red Door" serves as the first single from Restorations long-awaited, forthcoming album, LP5000, which is scheduled for release on September 28 via Tiny Engines. After the initial wobble of keys, an anxious swell of guitar and percussion builds in anticipation. Addressing the anxiety and concern over the changes brought on by gentrification, the song is fueled by earnest, emotive energy. What are the remnants of past that last when the faces of longstanding neighborhoods are wiped away, and where do the people go? (Photo by Emily Dubin)

New Inauguration Day Protest Compilation to Benefit the ACLU

"This compilation is an expression of love, anger, hope and protest on inauguration day. Let it serve as a reminder that the fight for justice is not over, that the celebration of diversity is essential to progress, that we must work together for what is fair and good. Can’t stop. Won’t Stop. Don’t stop now."

Featuring a plethora of Philly's favorite indie musicians like Radiator Hospital, Abi Reimold, Jon Loudon (Restorations), Marisa Dabice (Mannequin Pussy), Pat Conaboy (The Spirit of the Beehive), August Koch (Cayetana), and so many more covering iconic artists (Neil Young, John Lennon, David Bowie, New Order, etc.), the thirty-eight song compilation, Don't Stop Now: a collection of covers, will hopefully bring you some type of solace as well as inspiration today, as we prepare for the ginormous battle that lies ahead of us. But have no fear - we'll all be here for each other. FUCK COMRADE TRUMP! All proceeds from this compilation will benefit the ACLU.

New Self-released Restorations Single Available for Streaming & Purchase

Restorations have a manner of creating multifaceted songs that dig their heels in a personal manner and then branch outward. The group has self-released a new single “See/Sea,” produced by Jonathan Low. The songs continue in that literary, resounding lyrical tradition, booming into Americana-flavored rockin' anthems. Restorations plan to continue on releasing in this manner for the near future so make sure to pay it forward. Catch them live at The Foundry on Thursday, August 18 for the Red Bull Sound Select showcase with Thrills and Mumblr!

Weekend Warrior, April 8 - 10

Restorations will be making a stop home this evening at Johnny Brenda’s. The group’s music has the openness and grand scale suitable for the arena, but maintains its approachable indie roots. Songs open up into uplifting, heroic musical climaxes that are begging to be emphasized by elaborate light shows or columns of sparks, but still share similarities with basement bands like Cap’n Jazz through their use of arpeggiated melodies and expressively dissonant chords. Jon Loudon’s coarse though sonorous smoker voice sounds somewhere between Psychedelic Furs’ Richard Butler and Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, while incorporating the vocal inflections of (forgive me) Bono. Joining Restoration will be tourmates Creepoid, who bring a more dismal approach to the stage with darker textures and a detached, despondent expression. They take the bleakness and grayness from bummergaze bands like Slowdive and pair them with the ferocity and guttural growl of grunge in a similar way to contemporary bands True Widow or Cloakroom. The Dirty Nil will kick off the night with peak energy levels and their nitrous-fueled garage-punk. Imagine Nation Of Ulysses with more yelling and more fuzz. Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 8pm, $15 (Sold Out), 21+ - Bryce Woodcock
