New Music Video: "Doing Things Right" - Satellite Hearts

Satellite Hearts just released a new music video for their single “Doing Things Right,” which was co-produced by Joe Bisirri (The Lawsuits)-co-produced. The footage captures the trio performing the melodic head-bobbing rocker live. Utilizing trippy camera work, spins, varying angles and dimensions, not to mention that blond wig, the song has a way of creeping into your head, and shaking stuff up.

Illinois Record Release Show at JB's Feb. 21

Genre-spanning, local area elder statesmen of indie rock Illinois are set to celebrate the release of their fifth album Shine at Johnny Brenda's tonight. The bold, multi-layered project was over three years in the making for the Bucks County natives, and the end result is a carefree blend that's equal parts indie-folk and pop-rock. The latest track from Satellite Hearts, “Doing Things Right,” is another new song that piqued my interest recently. And tonight will be a good time to catch the trio before they open for Dean Ween next month. The show will also feature a savvy member of the Philly DJ crew Illvibe Collective, DJ Skipmode, who will pulling double duty as part of the hip-hop duo, Electric City. Johnny Brenda's, 1201. N Frankford Ave., 9pm, $10, 21+ - Bill McThrill

New Track: "Doing Things Right" - Satellite Hearts

After losing guitarist Dre DiMura and spending most of 2014 as the backup band for Ali Wadsworth, Satellite Hearts are back as a trio with an explosive new track called "Doing Things Right." It's the band's first release since 2013's EP Four to the Floor. Satellite Hearts will also be hitting the stage again in Philly on Saturday, February 21 at Johnny Brenda's.

Weekend Warrior, October 10 - 12

While somewhat relatively new to the local music scene, you'll recognize the members of Divers through the many contributions that they’ve made with the likes of Buried Beds, Birdie Busch, The Weeds, and many Philly groups. However, when the unit comes together, they form a melodic and soulful rock quartet that has lush lyrics and multi-layered instrumentals. The band recently recorded their debut album at Turtle Studios, and our halfway through their goal of crowdsourcing funds for their release via Pledge Music. Tonight will be a great opportunity to get to know the band while they headline at Johnny Brenda's, and it will also be a good chance to get reacquainted with the vibrant and chaotic experimental pop music of Purples (ex-Teeth). And while Satellite Hearts have been doing an excellent job of being the backing band for Ali Wadsworth, this evening will be their chance to shine on their own, bringing their youthful brand of psych rock to the table. Johnny Brenda's, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 9pm, $10, 21+ - Bill McThrill

Break-In Fundraiser Show at Underground Arts May 3

When Mat Burke set out to record his new album at the end of the holidays, things took a turn for the worse when a robber broke into his house and stole $10000+ worth of equipment, including several pieces that he borrowed from the studio that he was recording at. Underground Arts were quick to help by offering up their space and staff for him to host a fundraiser, and tonight Burke and several of his friends from the Philly music community will attempt to recoup some of the money that's needed to replace the stolen items. The multi-talented and vivacious Ali Wadsworth will be performing with her backing band as of late, Satellite Hearts. They are currently having a serious music love affair. Levee Drivers will be providing their patented booze-tinged, rural-boy swagger with a heart of gold for the evening, and Dan Bruskewicz, a.k.a. TJ Kong, minus the Atomic Bomb, will be crooning the audience with Tom Waits songs and music from his latest album KONG. The evening will also feature the Philly return of the Brothers Murphy of Penrose, who recently relocated to Brooklyn. Underground Arts, 1200 Callowhill St., 9pm, $10 21+ - Bill McThrill
