Jackson Boone Drops 'Organic Light Factory' Today

If you're a fan of trippy lo-fi folk rock much like that of, say, Kurt Vile or Kevin Morby, and you're NOT already listening to Portland's Jackson Boone, you're majorly missing out on some serious misty magic. A natural born songwriter, Jackson has been making music and playing festivals around the country since 2014. Today, he's releasing a new full length and gearing up to hit the road in support of it.

Organic Light Factory was inspired by the continual changes Jackson and his band the Ocean Ghosts experience as a result of their constant songwriting and touring. The songs are like a diary of their journey so far, showing personal transformation as well. "Don't" and "Mystic Winds (from the East)" are all we've heard on it so far, so you'll have to catch the rest of the tracks at the album release show/tour kickoff.

Head over to Mississippi Studios tonight at 9pm to hear the album performed live and in full, say goodbye the band and catch some sets from Cat Hoch, Sinless and Wave Action as well.

Candace is Back with Another Valentine's Day Soundtrack

Last year, goblin pop trio Candace shared a duo of specially covered love songs for the sake of Valentine's Day. They've done it again this year, and even included one of their own original tracks as an extra delight.

While you're getting ready for your big Valentine's date or perhaps just chilling at home demuring the date, Candace's mini playlist is worthy of some proper rotation. Providing their own gazed out bedroom pop versions of "Something's On My Mind" by Karen Dalton and "Do I get So Shy" by Shoes, along with a newer song of theirs called "Great Basin," their V-Day release is honestly one of the best things about today. Here's to hoping it becomes an actual tradition.

You can catch Candace playing on Thursday, February 16 for a Lose Yr Mind sponsored show along with Souvenir Driver and Sinless.

Mood Music: Sinless - 'Melodie'

And here we find ourselves again. There's clearly something about Sinless that either really gets us in the mood, or is somehow just always what we need to hear. We were in the mood for their track "Cool" back in September and now, we're entirely too much in the mood for the EP that houses "Cool," titled Melodie.

Out just a few days ago, Melodie continues on in that same supernal, dream pop vein Ethereality teased us with last summer. At just four tracks, it's another tease at frontman Cor Allen's mastery of 4AD's discography, as this EP is entirely a bedroom-recorded solo effort.

Rumor has it Sinless will be releasing their first 11 track full length in 2017, but until then enjoy Melodie on this somewhat snowy morning.

Mood Music: Sinless - "Cool"

Being cool definitely isn't a sin for local guitar pop group Sinless. Their new track, which debuted last week on the Wild Honey Pie, is a fuzzy bedroom pop song calling back to all the 60's era sounding love songs, hazed by dreamy vocals and adoring lyrics.

It's the kind of track that you'll want to play over and over again, especially on this chilly morning. Enjoy "Cool" below and keep on the look out for Melodie, due out in October.
