The Soft Spots

New The Soft Spots LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Rainy Daze is the new full-length album from synth-pop outfit The Soft Spots. Positioned underneath a soothing waterfall of dreamy psych-pop, the LP glides in a natural sway, slowing down the constant whirlwind. A sunny outlook is at the core of these songs, albeit with noise-adjusting, shoegazing moments lodged in between. One easily adjusts to the daydreaming waters. You can catch the four-piece at The Fire on Friday, April 6, where they'll be joined by Distant Voices, The Phonies, and Tubey Frank.

New Music Video: "Going Soft" - The Soft Spots

The Soft Spots recently released a new music video for the single, “Going Soft”. Directed by Bob Sweeney, the footage brings to life the song's hypnotic, slow-burning, oddly-at-home vibe. Adorned in various exaggerated animal masks and costumes, the foggy, eye-opening imagery may cause a double take in the midst of the slow-motion, shoegazy serenade. You can catch The Soft Spots on a bill that also includes The Stargazer Lillies and Thrills on FridayJune 9 at The Barbary.

Weekend Warrior, May 6 - 8

Still managed to miss seeing Queen of Jeans despite The Deli’s diligent coverage of the talented crew? Lucky for you that the month of May not only brings flowers, but also a vibrant bouquet of 60s-style flower-pop every Friday at Bourbon & Branch compliments of our beloved blossoming local artists Queen of Jeans. The band will have a month-long residency at B&B with performances every Friday featuring a different lineup of local acts. This week, we’ll be presenting the pairing their dreamy-textured 60’s girl-group pop with the 80’s new-wave textures of Suburban Living, whose musical interest falls more in line with Disintegration-era Cure but measures up to Queen of Jeans’ love of reverb-soaked pop sensibility. Joining in on the dreamy, poppy forays of the evening will be The Soft Spots, whose attempts to synthesize the best of the worlds results in tunes that are immediately appealing on the surface but derivationally complex. You can also catch Julia Rainer, a Philly singer-songwriter with a gentle, emotive voice and a powerful sincerity. Bourbon & Branch, 705 N 2nd St., 8pm, $10, 21+ - Bryce Woodcock
