Strand of Oaks

New Track: "Goshen '97" - Strand Of Oaks

Timothy Showalter aka Strands of Oaks offers a glimpse into his teenage years -growing up in Indiana through “Goshen ’97.” The song, off Strand of Oaks upcoming third LP entitled Heal, features J Mascis on guitar. “Goshen ‘97” takes no time to jump into gear with a combination of hard-cracking percussion, and high-octane guitar providing a youthful exuberance. Showalter’s narrative displays snapshots into his past while a raunchy guitar solo blazes a trail. Heal is set for a June 24th release date via Dead Oceans.

New Video: Exordium (Feat. Strand of Oaks, Ice Dragon & Jonn Ollsin) - Josh Jones & Morgan Galen King

Check out this rad and rather violent animated video project called Exordium that was co-directed by Univox's Josh Jones! In the vein of "Ralph Bakshi's The Lord of the Rings and Fire & Ice (though certainly a bit of Heavy Metal and He-Man made its way in, too)," it was also written, co-directed, drawn by hand and animated by Morgan Galen King, and features some powerful music from Philly's own Strand of Oaks, Ice Dragon, and The Family Band's Jonn Ollsin. The video was submitted to the Machinima Interactive Film Festival.

New Music Video: "Satellite Moon" - Strand of Oaks

Below is a strangely eerie, cinematic new music video from Strand of Oaks for the track "Satellite Moon," off his latest LP Dark Shores. It was directed by CJ Foeckler. (Photo by Zach Blum)

Photo Recap: Night Market & ART/GAGE w/Strand of Oaks, Norwegian Arms, Night Panther & Circadian Rhythms

Last Thursday, Night Market and ART/GAGE joined forces to create one massive party on South Street. Though the food event had its usual really long lines for the more buzzed-about food trucks, there were still plenty of fine local acts (Strand of Oaks, Norwegian Arms, Night Panther & Circadian Rhythms), people watching and Sixpoint beers to keep us all entertained. You can check out a bunch of our sweet photos from the evening HERE.
