This latest video for “Trunk of My Computer,” off the dynamic RJD2 x STS collaboration, delves into the hustling DIY underground music aesthetic. STS flashes back to the days of pushing his demos to establish himself. As we’ve grown accustomed to his sharp-spitting rhymes, they mingle with that layered, cinematic instrumentation of one of our favorite producers in a classic yet fresh manner.

The invigorating collaboration between quick-witted emcee STS and producer extraordinaire RJD2, STS x RJD2 (RJ's Electrical Connections), has garnered heavy rotation since its release. Now, a bonus track, “High Life,” has further tipped the scales with its funky jazz instrumentation laying the foundation for STS’s controlled, fiery delivery. STS, a.k.a. Sugar Tongue Slim, and RJD2 recently dropped their full-length collaborative effort to the delight of fans all over; however, this evening, the gifted emcee will be taking the stage on his own at Underground Arts. Well, he won't exactly be alone with his equally talented partner in crime DJ Bear-One on the ones and twos. They'll also be joined by Nassau County emcee Heems, formerly of Das Racist, and The Very Best, which is made up of London-based DJ/production duo Radioclit and singer Esau Mwamwaya, who grew up in Lilongwe, Malawi. Directed by Nick Rose, this new music video for “Doin’ It Right” combines live footage from STS & RJD2's performance with West Philadelphia Orchestra at Underground Arts and the studio version of the track. It brings to life the commanding exuberance of the song and collaboration. The enlistment of the lively, bouncing funk of WPO further accentuates the party-down atmosphere that it creates. STS returns to Underground Arts on Tuesday, June 9 to support The Very Best and Heems.
