The War on Drugs

New Video: "Arms Like Boulders" (Live - Austin City Limits) - The War on Drugs

Though we have been happy to see The War on Drugs gain critical acclaim for their last two LPs Lost In The Dream and Slave Ambient, we have to admit that when we come to their shows these days, we always long to hear soon-to-be classics like "Taking the Farm" and "Arms Like Boulders." Well, PBS will be airing this Saturday, November 7 at 7pm the group's recent appearance at Austin City Limits, where they performed our latter fave. There was no Adam Granduciel guitar spike like at the end of "Under Pressure" at Treasure Island Festival, but we'll take it! (Photo by Scott Newton)

New Music Video: "Under The Pressure" - The War on Drugs

The War on Drugs have a new music video for "Under The Pressure," the second single off their latest critically-acclaimed LP Lost in the Dream (Secretly Canadian). Bravo to the direction of Houmam, who pieces together a surreal, cinematic backdrop to the nearly nine-minute soundscape! The band is getting set to hit the road next month, and the touring will be going straight into November with no Philly dates currently scheduled. (Photo by Jessica Amaya)

New Video: "Red Eyes" (Live - Letterman) - The War on Drugs

The War on Drugs repping the awesomeness of the Philly music scene in a big way last night on Late Show With David Letterman. Adam Granduciel and the gang with the help of Paul Schaffer performed a fantastic version of "Red Eyes," off the band's latest critically-acclaimed LP Lost in the Dream. Enjoy!

The 7th Annual Roots Picnic at Festival Pier May 31

It’s a beautiful day for a picnic. And The Roots have provided a massive one for you. The annual event, in its 7th year, is back once again to the Festival Pier with its eclectic mix of hip hop, indie rock and pop. Bringing with them a man who always keeps his pimp hand strong and his weed the sticky icky, Snoop Dogg will definitely be in the house backed by our hometown hosts. Another group of Philly natives, who are ambassadors of spreading the word about how awesome our music scene is to the rest of the world, are The War on Drugs. And you’ll also find local rapper Chill Moody making a return after garnering a good amount of buzz for his live set at his first Picnic. They’ll be intermingled among top-grade acts like Janelle Monnae, Araabmuzik, Action Bronson, A$ap Fergie, Just Blaze, Biz Markie, and many others throughout the day and evening. It’s a family affair y’all! Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing, 601 N. Columbus Rd., 12pm, $64 General/$171 VIP, All Ages - H.M. Kauffman

New Video: “Mind Games” – The War on Drugs w/ Jim James

The War on Drugs are currently trekking the country behind their fantastic new LP. Lost In The Dream. Recently, they have been doing their own spaced-out version of John Lennon’s Mind Games, but their stop in Portland included a cameo by one Jim James on vocals.  The band is touring all around the world the next few months, so maybe we will get some more cool guest vocals, but until then, enjoy the video below.
