Fire in the Field delivers a sticky-sweet summer single, plays Jewel Music Venue 08.09

The duality of Boston's Fire in the Field is overwhelming: the sharp contrast between the group's sensual lyrics and killer rock riffs is a recipe for a complete mind takeover. The funk flows abundantly in the band's latest single "Under the Sun" as a groovy drum beat and stylish electric guitar strums flourish. The panache with which the lead vocals switch from a swagger-filled modulation to sensible falsettos recall the glory of Prince's '80s heyday. The band delivers a single gooey with style and confidence, and it is bringing all of that to the Jewel Music Venue in Manchester, NH on August 9th. We are streaming the new single for you below. - Rene Cobar

DioMara, Snack Cat, Vocateurs play The Revolution, Vol. 41 on 07.27

This Saturday, July 23rd at 10 PM, The Revolution series will return to National Sawdust with another set of NYC based artists: Vocateurs, Snack Cat, and DioMara. Vocateurs is a brand new Brooklyn-based (by way of Florida) band blending soul and indie rock elements - they are so new they don't even have a demo out yet! Snack Cat is a collective of musicians combining elements of jazz, blues, soul, and funk; their sound bases its foundation on an intriguing trombone/keys/electric guitar interplay. DioMara, a Panamian-American R&B singer, bears a stage presence that matches her soulful tunes, and she's also the founder of a women's charity event series called WNDR WMN.

Coming from three very different backgrounds, these artists and their music are a testament to NYC's cultural, ethnic and artistic diversity - don't miss their performance this coming Saturday! Tickets are here. - Susan Moon

Maurice "Hip Replacement"

Instrumental Progressive Rock group Maurice has released the first single, “Hip Replacement”, from their forthcoming album Pear in the Finish.

Maurice is the work of Corey McCafferty, Kevin Meyer, David Grant, James Davis and Jonathon Kirk. This is the first new music we have had from the band since 2016’s LP Bouncy Things.

This single is fun, funky, bouncy, almost Jazz-like, but just off kilter enough to keep the listener guessing.

Broken Robots “Suckerpunch"

Broken Robots released their second single of 2019, “Suckerpunch”, over the weekend. This follows the catchy “Fourteen to One” which was released back in May.

This is Funk/Rock/Hip Hop trio of Tony Baker, Kat Baker, Lonnie Phillips, and they burst on to the scene last year with their debut LP, Home Is Not a Place.

You can catch Broken Robots on August 3rd at The Gallery Cabaret.
