New Elegant Animals EP Available for Streaming & Download

Elegant Animals has just released another new EP Warm Blood Pt. 2. The record seamlessly ties together electro R&B and soul. While coasting on buoyant, pillowy grooves, the songs allude to an air of danger. “Amateur Video,” with its smooth, seductive, simmering, bedroom funk, feels like a nod to the late, great Prince. Finally, album closer, “Saved,” surveys in a streetwalking, soulful nostalgia. Make it the soundtrack to your stroll or ride through Philly this beautiful weekend.

Experimental soul? Juliana Huxtable at BK Bazaar on 03.25

Juliana Huxtable will bring her manic electronica to Brooklyn Bazaar on Saturday March 25. The DJ, producer, performer and model has long been a favorite of the NYC art scene, and her music mirrors the dynamic, wild, and multi-faceted persona radiating from the artist. Huxtable's latest release, "DISCOWOMAN MIX: SCHIZOANALYSIS," is a monster track that manages to effortlessly fold in spoken word and gossamer, echoed vocals with stomping, high-energy beats and angular synths over the course of its hour run time. Take a listen to the mix streaming below, and make sure you catch her set this Saturday. - Olivia Sisinni

COPPER CROWN - BOVINE FEST #2 SUNDAY!

Copper Crown are bringing a unique alt-punk-ska sound to the Toronto scene. They released their debut self titled EP last year. All of the band members come from different music backgrounds with several influences so it's hard and frowned upon to label Copper Crown under one genre. Basically the band sounds like classic California ska bands of the 90's with Dido on vocals. They will be playing at Bovine Fest #2 at Bovine Sex Club on March 26th. - Kris Gies

Portland Does SXSW: TYuS

Once one of if not the biggest genres of the '90s, R&B was known for being the go-to soundtrack for making love and karaoke jams. R&B has been making a comeback lately, with many artists of a younger generation turning to the styles their parents loved (and possibly used to bring them into the world) to drive their musical creations. Portland's arena for the style is pretty open, but local young'n TYuS wants to make sure we "never forget" him.

The title of his album, Never Forget is fuilled with tracks that incorporate the best of the new wave of trap beats and the sensual, archetypal sounds that serve as nostalgia for most of us. He must be doing something right since he's now signed to Warner Brothers Records, but his more DIY approach to romantic hip hop is something we all can't help but appreciate. TYuS doesn't play around Portland much but whenever he does, panties are sure to drop.
