Anthony Graziano releases debut single "Bicycle Day"

On April 19th of 1943, Albert Hofman became the first person to take LSD (and also the first to do so while riding a bike.) 65 years later, Boston-based singer-songwriter Anthony Graziano released a song about it. The debut single “Bicycle Day” (streaming below) is a smooth and psychedelic lullaby, with lyrics that fluctuate between entrancing and eerie (“The roads were winding and the buildings seem tall / As if nothing was real at all / Paranoia has me question my health / Am I dying? Did I poison myself? I guess I'll see.”) A debut EP by the artist is still forthcoming, but Graziano is definitely one to watch. - Lilly Milman

Toronto's FRIGS on the cover of Austin 2018 issue of The Deli

Deliriously rocking beings,

Once a year, The Deli publishes an issue of The Deli that is NOT exclusively focused on NYC acts, but on artists based in all the 11 scenes we cover. That time of the year is now, an that issue is the 8th Austin issue of The Deli, which you can now read online here. The print version of it, in its glorious 7 inch format, will be available in print next week in Austin and in NYC shortly thereafter.

On the mag's cover you'll find Toronto's noise rockers FRIGS, whose debut album Basic Behaviour has been rocking our world in the last few weeks.

The issue features other incredible emerging artists, including hip hop genius Nnamdi Ogbonnya, talented goofball popper Caroline Rose, and Los Angeles' alt-rockers The Beaches among others - you can listen to all of them in the YouTube playlist below.

Also in the issue, an article entitled "Will Rock Explode Again?" which poses pognant questions about the future of rock'n'roll.

As usual, in the final pages you'll find a section focused on the guitar pedals and synths involved in our Austin Stompbox and Synth Expo, scheduled for March 16/17 at the Chuggin' Monkey in Downtown Austin!

Enjoy!

Daeves cuts slack on newest album “Whatever Before The Storm”

Daeves is the indie rock project of Devon Murphy, a multi-instrumentalist songwriter hailing from Acton, MA. On his latest release, Whatever Before The Storm, Murphy wields a slacker sensibility through songs inspired by new wave folk and indie music. Murphy’s casual disposition and breathy baritone call comparisons to Mark Kozelek of Sun Kil Moon, while the album’s instrumentation (performed solely by Murphy himself) calls to mind the looseness of Pavement, with the structural know-how of Real Estate. Despite it’s unconcerned title, Whatever Before The Storm is a sturdy new release worthy of a listen. Stream the album below. -Charley Ruddell

Magnolia Loft prepares to shut down, releases "Magnolia Songs Mixtape"

Three years since it’s creation, Magnolia Loft has created a reputation for being one of Boston’s top tier DIY venues. Located on the third floor of a Jamaica Plain apartment building, Magnolia Loft has provided a space for local artists and musicians to hold interactive exhibits and performances for community participants. Sadly, the staple underground venue, run and programmed by tenant Audrey Harrar, has been forced to vacate the property to make way for building development. To commemorate the venue’s legacy, Harrar has compiled a fifty-two song mixtape, titled Magnolia Songs Mixtape, compiled of artists who have performed at the space, including acts like Sidney Gish, BAERD, Izzy Heltai, and I Can Chase Dragons. Stream Magnolia Songs Mixtape below. -Charley Ruddell
