Horse Stories release limited edition of new LP filled with non-guilty kitsch

For those who consider buying CDs as some archaic pastime, reconsider: Silver Lake's own Horse Stories are releasing an especially nifty and ultra limited edition of its latest LP November, November for the first 100 people to grab them. The homemade CDs boxes follow up in singer Toby Burke's folksy aesthetic by providing  original notebook lyrics, original photos from recording sessions and other mementos that paved the way to the creation of this record. Own a little piece of indie history for $15 here. Take that, iTunes.

Globes on Remote's campy video for "Space Camp"

Globes on Remote | "Space Camp"
Dir. by Bridger Nielson

Indie-pop quartet Globes on Remote turned Deli heads a few months ago with their brand of super-happy-fun-time dance tunes, and turned heads they've done again. Their video for "Space Camp" is a visual orgy of colors and smiles and dancing and photographic whimsy, all representative of one of our favorite breaking acts. Is it too early to call favorite video of 2010? Yes? Then prove us wrong and send some video goodness to hugo [at] thedelimagazine [dot] com.

The Alternates play pre-Grammy networking event 'disclosed to the public'

If you're in the mood for some white-collar schmoozing among music industry folks, then later this month you're in luck. The Moodtyme Events company's pre-Grammy mixer comes with a set by indie locals The Alternates and though it's "disclosed to the public" we found a link where you can buy your way in for twenty bucks. In the off-chance a good connection can't be made with these uber-powerful industry people, you'll at least go home with an excellent set by a group we've had our ears on since this site began three years ago. Artistic consolation: check.

Dead Meadow premiere video/film preview for major Xemu project

Dead Meadow | "That Old Temple"
Dir. by Artificial Army

We know who Dead Meadow are: a three-piece psych rock group with the itch to tastefully jam between verses and choruses, all without ever making listeners bore in the indulgence. What we don't know is what film project this music video is a preview for. According to a release, Dead Meadow are part of a "multi-media project to surface later this year on Xemu." Xemu, of course, being Dead Meadow's label and apparent web hub for this hyped film project by Artificial Army (whose work includes The Mars Volta, The Sword, and Coheed and Cambria). The video itself is hallucinating, and until more information comes out on this alleged multimedia project, we'll just let it stand on its own.

Best of '09 Poll Update: Hold tight!

As you already know, The Deli runs in several major cities across the country, and when the Best Of poll comes around, this means mega, mega, mega traffic. While we love the attention (we really do) this often goes hand-in-hand with severe congestion and traffic outages which result in delays and balding. So just hold tight, Angelenos -- we'll let the rest of our sister sites go ahead of us until it's our turn. If there's anything we know how to do, it's wait in traffic, amiright!? In the meantime, keep checking in for regular posting. Rock!
