Ric Wilson "No Hands"

Last month, Ric Wilson released a fun new track called “No Hands”. The track was produced by Madeaon & Lido and blends Funk and Hip Hop, as Wilson has become known to do. On "No Hands", when Sam Veren comes in with the horns the track is really elevated to whole new level.

This fis his first follow-up to the 2018 EP BANBA and is hopefully a great sign of what is to come from Wilson in 2019.

New Lazy Eye EP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Mental Chillness, the new EP from the quartet of Lazy Eye, was recently released via local label Nap Time Records. Led by singer-songwriter Hannah LaRocca, soothing, dreampop melodies float yet exhibit points of tenacious friction. Calm and steadfast whilst weaving through turbulent emotive moments, there’s a resilient confidence which continuously moves forward, demonstrating a poignant power at pivotal occasions. Lazy Eye is scheduled to perform next in Philly at a house show on Saturday, February 9, with Midnight in Rome, Popular Kid, and Mandala.

Schlotman’s New Single “Bang Bang” Hits Hard

We are pleased to debut the new single “Bang Bang” from Schlotman, off their upcoming album Animal Glamour (another success brought to you by Tiny Telephone Studios). Pair this bad boy with their other single, “7-11 Jesus,” and we’re pretty confident that 2019’s album will be on par with 2018’s Future and ‘17’s On a Rope. More like on a roll. Lucas Nevrla’s vocals are lovely as ever (somewhere between Jeff Buckley and Julian Casablancas) and though this track has a sadder feel than a lot of their other songs, we’re kept from crying by those winding melodic riffs, the warm reverberating hum, a taste of grunge and just a little psychedelic guitar. Lines like, “Baby blue, all I want is someone to do bad things to” get stuck in your head as much as the melodies. Tasteful mixing and mastering by Brandon Eggleston and Chris Hanzsek, respectively. We can’t wait to see them live, February 12th at The Gilman and stay tuned for that January 29th full album release. -Michelle Kicherer, Associate Editor

Andrew La Tona & the Nightshades - Experimental Prog-Rock hits Horseshoe 01.22

Genre-bending is one way to describe Andrew La Tona & the Nightshades but I would prefer to say genre-shattering. Listening to the track “Power & Prowess” from their latest record you can hear their pop/prog/rock influences but the drums have an electronic feel with just a dash of jazz as well. It’s a wild track that reminds me of some of the more experimental U2 songs out there. The Nightshades will be playing Nu Music Nite at the Horseshoe Tavern on January 22nd. – Kris Gies
