Jerry Leger is a veteran roots artists from around here in Toronto. He has a new solo record “Time Out For Tomorrow” set for release on November 8th. The album was heavily influenced by ghosts after spending some time recently travelling to various unknown ghost towns in Ontario. Leger and his band will be hittin’ the road going east for a fall tour that comes back around Toronto on November 28th for a show at Lee’s Palace. – Kris Gies

Glutenhead - Debut Experimental Folk Album "Glugen Frau"

Brand new experimental folk rock group Glutenhead released their debut album “Glugen Frau” last month. The band explains the history of the album title:

“The phrase Glugen Frau first came up in my life innocuously, when I was eighteen and in Berlin. In a moment of manic while ordering at a restaurant, realizing I didn’t know any german, I asked for the food to be “Glugen Frau.” 5 years later, it was time to look up what it meant.”

The rough translation is "Glimmering Woman” You can expect it all on this album as you can tell from the track “how it feels” which contains a variety of influences. Give ‘er a spin and see what you can gather from Glutenhead. – Kris Gies

Young Clancy - Eclectic Soul Infused Single "Level"

Young Clancy has a new explorative EP due out soon titled “Volume II”. The latest single from this upcoming EP titled “Level” is inspired from 70’s soul music. This tune definitely has some soul influences to it along with a more modern electronic hip hop production. The chorus is so smooth and certainly full of soul.  The track as a whole is very eclectic. “Volume II” is available on October 4th. – Kris Gies

Squiggly Lines - Dream Pop Single "Dragonfly", New Album 09.21

Squiggly Lines is a mysterious indie pop band from Toronto. Their latest single is a dreamy pop track titled “Dragonfly” which is, in their words “a song about bugs”. This track has somber tones and rather sad lyrics about missing a person all the way in Montreal at first before kickin’ in with a more upbeat B section. The melancholy sound of the verse still has a comforting feel to it. I hear some Homeshake vibes in this tune. Squiggly Lines has a new album being released on September 21st. – Kris Gies

Tomacco - Funky Garage Rock "Vagabond" EP

Named after one of the greatest Simpson’s episodes of all time; Tomacco is a funky 4 piece garage band from Toronto. Their latest single “Mister Twister” shows off all their goods. The rhythm keeps the funk goin’ while the keys add a psychedelic tone to the track. It has an early 90’s vibe that makes me think Tomacco would fit in on the same bill as Blood Sugar Sex Magik era Chili Peppers and Ugly Kid Joe perhaps. Their EP “Vagabond” is available now. They will be playing The Atria in Oshawa on September 20th alongside Revive the Rose, The Hostiles, The Jailbirds and No Service. – Kris Gies
